For me, that /mods folder (after installing tModLoader) is located here, on my Windows 10 computer: tmod's right in to your new /mods folder location and the mod will be ready to activate once you start the game. Now, you can start installing mods! All you have to do is download them off of the internet - they come in the form of ".tmod" files - just drop those. This PC > Documents > My Games > Terraria > ModLoader > Worlds This PC > Documents > My Games > Terraria > ModLoader > Players When you install tModLoader, it changes the default folders where your Player and World files are located! Those folders will now be located one level deeper: Your Terraria game will now run with tModLoader overlayed on top of it, and that's exactly how it works. Local Disk (C:) > Program Files Steam > SteamApps > common > TerrariaĪll you have to do after that point is start Terraria as you normally do - either through Steam, or through the icon on your computer. Yes - that includes overwriting Terraria.exe! Here's where you'd drop those files on a Windows PC: Simply download the ZIP file, and extract all of the files directly into the Terraria Steam folder, overwriting anything you're prompted with. To install tModLoader, the process is very similar to installing things like ENBs (if you're a Skyrim fan, you know what that means). The official page can be found here, which is where you can find the Windows | Mac | Linux downloads for the file (these links are always updated to the most recent version). TModLoader is a mandatory mod you'll need in order to install other mods into the game. I always make a habit of copying all of these files and putting them into a folder with this naming convention: "Terraria Backups DD-MM-YYYY" and drop that folder into a parent folder for game saves. This PC > Documents > My Games > Terraria > Worlds Your world files are located in the /Worlds folder and look like "MyWorldName.wld" and "". This PC > Documents > My Games > Terraria > Players Copy all of them and back them up somewhere. Your player files are located in the /Players folder and look like "r" and "". Because of that, there's no excuse not to backup very frequently, especially after an hour of design work on your Terraria world. Thankfully, these files are very tiny and only bytes/kilobytes large. Before doing anything to your game, I have to repeat the infamous warning: backup your files! That includes your player files and your world files too.
